Dance teams fight it out for top slots

Vijaya BhaskarTwo days of sheer display of dancing talent by girls and boys from Krishna and West Godavari districts at the Loyola College Auditorium on Saturday and Sunday marked the completion of the regional round of ‘7Up Dance For Me' competition.
With youth enjoying the performances spread over 24 hours on two days, an electrifying atmosphere prevailed inside the auditorium as 81 teams fought tooth and nail to make it to the State-level finals to be organised in Hyderabad on April 23 at which teams from all over Andhra Pradesh would fight it out for the south India finals in Chennai.
“The date for the Chennai finals has not been finalised, but cine actor Allu Arjun will be present at the Hyderabad and Chennai events to encourage the participants,” said Jatti Dayanand, assistant manager of marketing of Pepsico.
Out of the 81 two teams comprising seven members have been shortlisted, but their names have not been announced.
In another section two dance videos have been uploaded onto You Tube and based on the voting popularity the third team would be selected, said B. Ramprasad, a choreographer and dancer himself, who was at the Loyola Auditorium to judge the performances, which began in the morning and went on till late in the night on both days.
Highlight
Large number of girls' teams was the highlight of the Vijayawada round of the competition, in which teams from all towns of Krishna district and Eluru participated.
At Chennai teams from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala will vie for the top honours with the winners carrying away Rs.51 lakh in prize money and getting a chance to dance with the cine hero Allu Arjun on stage or in a movie, said Mr. Dayanand.
Popular dance numbers of Allu Arjun and Chiranjeevi were in huge demand among the participants, while others came up with some weird themes and choreography with good practice of dancing steps was being looked for by the two judges at the auditorium.
The dressing of the team and pops if any they used also added marks to identify the winners.
