Confusion over Rupert Murdoch's meetings with David Cameron

Confusion over Rupert Murdoch's meetings with David CameronHis evidence now says that his diary showed six possible meetings with the Prime Minister, rather than nine as he had claimed.
Mr Murdoch met Mr Cameron officially in May and July 2010, Downing Street records show. Originally Mr Murdoch claimed there were three further meetings over those two months and in March last year. However, these have now been removed from his evidence.
Downing Street said yesterday that two other meetings listed in his evidence as “proposed” or “possible” also never took place.
A further two diary entries — the News Corp summer party and The Times CEO summit last June — show that the pair did attend the same events. However, Downing Street said that because they were public events there was no need to declare them as part of Mr Cameron’s account of his meetings with the tycoon.
Mr Cameron’s office is understood to have contacted Mr Murdoch’s lawyers about inconsistencies in their diaries.
