Sachin Tendulkar, addressing the media at an event to commemorate his 100th 100 on Sunday, said that post achieving the milestone he had no more cricketing dreams to chase. “I wanted to play for India and I wanted to win the world cup. Both these have been achieved and I have nothing left to achieve. Some highlights from the event:

Tendulkar said that he is glad that he did not lose hope waiting for his 100th hundred.  “At least for this 100 I had to wait a year, I had to wait 22 years for the World Cup,” he said.
“I asked god what wrong did I do, why did it take so long?” he said. He said that he also believed that luck was not on his side, because in terms of preparation, practice and determination he had done everything right.
He said when he scored his first hundred in 1994 there were very few people in the press conference, and that there were lesser expectations. “My first hundred and 100th hundred can nnever be compared,” the cricketer said.
Commenting on whether his record would be broken he said, “I don’t know if anyone will break the 100th ton record or not, but whoever does, I just hope it’s an Indian.”
On his retirement:
Tendulkar said no one should tell him when to retire, and that he will play as long as he wishes to. “I don’t think I need to prove anything. My dream was to play for India and win the world cup and I have achieved both. But, it is selfish to retire on a high”, he said.
However, he said it is difficult for him to answer whether he will play the next World Cup or not.
On being Sachin Tendulkar:
Tendulkar said his only hero is his father. “My hero is my father. I want to become a person like him.”
He said the best compliment he has received ever was when he was included in Sir Don Bradman’s list of top playing XI
On India’s performance:
On being asked about India’s poor overseas performance in the last one year, Tendulkar said, “can’t pinpoint reasons for India’s performance in last one year. No doubt we have to perform better as a team. It is a rough patch, we have to overcome this.”
“When we started, there were some goals set. I feel I have been able to set goals for the next generation,” he said.
Tendulkar said of all cricket forms, Test Cricket is the most challenging, and needs more importance. ” It truly shows how good a player you are.”
He asked younger players to enjoy the game and play with their heart. My only tip– “Chase your dream. Just enjoy the game, have a big heart and look at life positively
